After a somatic session, it's important to take care of yourself both physically and emotionally. Here are some tips to support your well-being:
Hydrate and Rest
Remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Somatic work can be intense, and staying hydrated helps your body process the experience. Give yourself permission to rest and engage in gentle activities as your body integrates the session.
Observe Without Judgment
Notice any shifts, sensations, or insights that arise in the hours or days following your session. Avoid analyzing or judging these experiences; simply observe what's happening in your body and mind. Consider journaling as a helpful tool for reflection.
Practice Gentle Self-Compassion
Be gentle and kind to yourself as you navigate post-session feelings. It's normal for emotions, memories, or physical sensations to surface after deep work. Approach whatever arises with compassion and understanding. If needed, seek support from a trusted friend or therapist.
